DeepMatter Records is an independent record label based in London, founded in 2017 by Tom Pickford. With a deep-rooted passion for jazz, soul, hip-hop and the rich spectrum that connects them, the label is dedicated to spotlighting cutting-edge talent from the UK and around the globe.
Since its inception, DeepMatter has cultivated a forward-thinking catalogue, releasing acclaimed projects by artists such as The Offline, Ria Moran, vbnd, Myele Manzanza, Jerk, Quinn Oulton, Don Glori, SHOLTO, Abhi The Nomad, Paul Grant, Jr. Thomas and many more. The label has become renowned for its curatorial depth, fostering a community of artists who push the boundaries of modern soul, jazz, and groove-driven music.
In 2021, the label expanded its vision with the launch of Root Records, a sister imprint focused on genre-defying, mostly instrumental works that blur the lines between ambient, jazz, electronic and beyond. Continuing its growth, 2024 saw the formation of DeepMatter Music Group, an umbrella for its labels and new ventures, including Matters of Note Publishing, in partnership with Secretly Publishing, to provide a dedicated home for songwriters and composers across its ecosystem.
Today, DeepMatter operates as a global hub for independent music, representing a diverse roster of future-facing artists and continuing to carve out its place as a respected and influential voice within the modern music landscape.
