Created over an eight-year period, Lightworks marks a new chapter for Summers Sons & C.Tappin. Bringing together brothers Turt and Slim with longtime collaborator, producer and pianist C.Tappin, the album reflects years of creative growth, collaboration and shared experience.
Moving beyond the sample-based approach of previous releases, the trio embrace fully live instrumentation for the first time, blending jazz, soul and hip-hop into a warm, spacious and deeply human body of work. Built around C.Tappin's piano compositions, Slim's production and rhythm section, and Turt's lyrical direction, the record explores perseverance, purpose and the relationships that keep us moving forward through life's inevitable highs and lows.
Written whilst balancing careers, family life and the realities of adulthood, Lightworks is rooted in the belief that meaningful work takes time. Across thirteen tracks, it captures the strength found in friendship, community and staying true to a shared vision, resulting in the trio's most cohesive and emotionally resonant release to date.
